Book Review: Who Owns The Future

The content of this book may challenge you.  The author comes from a technical and musician background, and is a very intelligent and articulate writer and speaker.

The book discusses the difference between an information economy and a humanistic economy and how technical implementations affect innovation, environment, the economy and humanity. It discusses realities, trends, possibilities and outcomes, while being open to new ideas and innovation.

It sheds light on the shadow-side of the premise that ‘information is free’ on the internet and ironically the extreme imbalances of wealth between the people who own the cloud-servers and the people who freely feed it the information it needs (mostly for free on one-side of the equation and worth millions on the other.)

Our culture (world) may be at a tipping point; however, we are also at a very exciting time indeed. It is a book of ideas and of story-telling that is relevant today. An important conversation for anyone who cares about inter-connectedness, holistic ideas and the future of humanity. The book is widely available if you choose to read it yourself. It can be purchased or checked out at the library.

The book is titled: Who Owns the Future, by Jaron Lanier.
